Overview
To apply for this post you must be a resident of the European Union and be eligible to work in the UK. Please note that all appointments are subject to a satisfactory Criminal Record Bureau Disclosure.

Langley House Trust is a national Christian charity, who specialise in providing at-risk marginalised groups – including those leaving prison – with accommodation, support and rehabilitation. Our Winchester Project is one such venture. For anyone with excellent management skills within the probationary or residential care setting looking for a challenging position, it’s a project you’ll relish driving forward.

Based in a small, rural village just outside Winchester and set in its own grounds, the project is high profile and demanding. It is home to offenders and those who are at the risk of offending, and represents a fresh start: residents grow fruit and vegetables, tend chickens, and carry out other such activities. We also provide training and education for residents, with the intention of providing them with qualifications to aid their return to society.

Within the space of six months, we expect the project to be a real success. You will play a key role in making sure that happens. By delivering the efficient day-to-day services, you will ensure the delivery of a stable and effective project. It is essential that these projects are delivered not only to the highest standards, but according to the twin expediencies of time and budget. It is also important that we get the local community on board and, in this respect, your ability to negotiate and conciliate will be a vital factor.

You, then, are an experienced manager, equally adept at handling budgets and people. Ideally, we’re looking for an NVQ4 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent), if not, you should be committed to gaining this qualification. Management experience within a residential or criminal justice setting would be required, as would an appreciation of current issues in providing treatment services support for people with mental health and learning disabilities. You lead by example, are able to inspire your team, forge close working relationships with those around you and show strong management in the house running. To maintain our Christian ethos, you will also be a practicing and professed Christian.

Use your skills and talents to help the more vulnerable members of society and gain the rewards you deserve.

Closing date: 10th March 2010
