| How We Work |
 |
| At Langley we believe people can change for the better but we know that in order to achieve this they require a professional package of support matched to their individual needs: |
 |
- Our projects are staffed by trained personnel who are experienced in the assessment and management of risk and who are able to provide a stable environment with high standards of care, support and supervision.
- Residents are helped to build self-confidence and awareness through the development of essential social and practical skills, without which genuine progress to crime-free living is so much more difficult. Increasingly, training is being provided for job preparation including opportunities to gain qualifications. Training and support is geared to complement the "What Works" programme being operated by Prison and Probation Services.
- By means of a Personal Support Plan (which is regularly reviewed) and with the guidance of a Keyworker, residents are encouraged to take stock of their lives and helped to set realistic goals as they move towards an independent, crime-free life.
- Although some of our residents stay longer than others, the emphasis is always on moving towards independence wherever possible. All our projects have access to move-on provision and several have designated Resettlement Officers/Floating Support Workers.
- We believe in partnership and are proud of our links with prisons, the Probation Service (NOMS), Health and Social Services. We value the strong working relationships we have with other housing and training providers, as a result of which we are able to increase our effectiveness.

"You are made to feel that you matter and to these staff, no matter how bad you have been, you really do matter. No one anywhere else has treated me like that." Resident's comment during an HMIP inspection. |
