Langley’s Care Team has secured ‘highly commended’ in the Housing Heroes Awards!
At a packed awards ceremony on 25th June 2018, the Housing Heroes Awards were announced. Langley is delighted that its Care Team secured ‘Highly Commended’ in the Support and Care Team of the Year category.
This is the second time that Langley’s care team has secured this rating. The Housing Heroes Awards recognise the people that “make housing great” who are often the unsung heroes of the housing world.
Langley’s Care Team was put forward for its commitment, perseverance and sustained effort in delivering high quality support and care to men coming from prison or secure hospitals.
There is a growing need for care services for men leaving prison, particularly as the elderly prison population continues to rise. Those over 60 are now the fastest growing prison population. However, there is a lack of care services available in the community for people leaving prison with care needs.
Langley’s Care Team works with some of the hardest to place men in the Criminal Justice Sector, including those with enduring mental health issues, personality disorders, learning disabilities and those who have never lived crime-free in the community before. The Care Team is made up of a Head of Care, two Social Care Managers, a Care Administrator and eight care projects across England.
Speaking about the result, Tracy Wild, CEO said:
I am delighted that our Care Team has secured highly commended in the Housing Heroes Awards for the second time. They are a very skilled and dedicated team with great compassion for the people we work with. They are concerted in their efforts in helping people reintegrate into society and make day-by-day changes that move them towards independence.
The award results were announced on 25th June 2018 at a special ceremony in Manchester. The awards are jointly organised by Inside Housing and the Chartered Institute of Housing.
