A small but intrepid team of Langley staff took to kayaking on the River Avon on 19th July 2015 for one purpose – to raise funds to support ex-offenders turning their lives around after prison.
The team blew their target (raising over £600) and managed to stay dry despite one team member’s disappointment at no-one taking the plunge!
The event was a great success and was part of Langley’s wider fundraising efforts this summer. Teams of staff and residents, up and down the country, have been taking part in sponsored initiatives to raise funds for schemes that will help ex-offenders get back on track.
These include initiatives such as a rent deposit scheme for men and women struggling to access statutory rent deposit schemes so that they can get their own place in the community as part of their rehabilitation. Other initiatives include the establishment of ‘Challenge to Change’ outside the prison walls – taking the learnings from the transformational prison programme run by our sister charity, Kainos Community, and bringing them into the local community to help inspire change in men and women leaving prison.
Langley projects will continue to fundraise into the Autumn, including sponsored bike rides and walks and potentially even a car wash! To donate to Langley House Trust, please visit our Just Giving page: Donate to Langley.
