The fund – introduced earlier this year – is designed to support not-for-profit and charitable organisations which want to use renewable energy to provide community benefits.
This reflects the commitment of M&S to move towards supplying 100% of its electricity from renewable energy sources.
If secured, the awards will fund the installation of solar panels at both projects so that they can increase their energy efficiency and reduce reliance on traditional energy sources.
The final decision will be made by community vote with decisions being announced after 30th September.
